Books we read, February 1st

It was a morning for repetition. Reid had each of us read A Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. I dive for the shower to get out of a repeat reading but Ken read the Hairy Toe twice by himself.

At Melissa’s house we read an original version of The Little Engine that Could, a book with many more words than I remember, and The Snow Bear by Miriam Moss and illustrated by Maggie Kneen. The Snow Bear is so beautifully illustrated in pastel colours and parts of the pages are textured, like the polar bear in one scene. It is definitely on my “Reid wants it” list. Melissa says that the illustrator has done similar books and I will be on the look out for them, too.
