Books we read, March 5th
March 5, 2007 by Barbara.
For a Monday, it was relatively sane. We read:
- Over in the Meadow: A traditional counting rhyme illustrated by Louise Voce
- Dad Mine! by Jane Kemp and Clare Waltersand illustrated by Dawn Apperley,
- Many of our letter books in the ABC Box from Discovery Toys; and
- Hippos Go Beserk! by Sandra Boynton.

At home day
March 5, 2007 by Barbara.
I read I Am Not Going to Get Up Today by Dr Seuss to Reid on Saturday and on Sunday she decided to live out a slightly modified version - I Am Not Going to Leave the House Today by Reid. She slept in until 8:00, practically unheard of in our house, and didn’t protest when I got her dressed and then we played a few minutes. When Reid asked for cereal, I reminded her that we were going to see Didi and eat eggs at the restaurant. It wasn’t happening for Reid, though. She knew we had eggs in the fridge and she wanted to help me cook them. By a strange twist of fate, we had bacon, too. I cooked bacon and eggs, even made some toast. Yes, *me*, with no help from anyone but Reid. It all went pretty well. The smoke alarm didn’t sound when I cooked the bacon as I had expected but the toast did me in. Poor Ken was in his office trying to work but the yummy smells and awful alarm didn’t draw him out. After breakfast, we played with the Potato Heads. We even staged a photo shoot. I think I’ve mentioned before that Reid puts the moustache on the Mama and the Daddy carries a purse. The purse offends Ken but the moustache is just funny to him. It’s easier, I think, to be the man with a purse rather than the woman with a moustache but then I’m the one with the ’stache. I thought that we might as well have the evidence of how Reid sees us. Reid enjoyed staging the photos and even wanted to be in some. I’ll get them uploaded and share them.
Our general noisiness did eventually bother Ken, though. When he came down, I decided we had better go after all. I offered Reid the chance to go to the grocery store and how could she resist? She forgot about not going out for a while - she hasn’t been coming to the grocery store with me lately and had to come when she could. It was only a slight abberration in the day, though. We had lunch, napped and played again until supper. The Legos that we brought up from the basement on Saturday, especially, kept us busy.
It was a good staying at home day.
