Books we read, April 22nd
April 22, 2007 by Barbara.
In the morning, we read:
- Toupie et Binou Atchoum by Dominique Jolin, only I had to translate on the fly because Reid wasn’t in the mood for French although she did want a Toupy and Binoo fix;
- Pocoyo and Friends: A first book of friendship (no author);
- Mrs Crump’s Cat by Linda Smith; and
- Lizard in the Sun by Joanne Ryder, a book that I picked because Ryder wrote books about the San Diego Zoo.
Waiting for the Agricultural Museum to open, we read Iggy Pig’s Snowy Day by Vivian French. In the museum, we read Come Along Daisy by Jane Simmons, which reminded me of a book about a little duck who was learning that baby duck, even she, came from eggs. I’ll have to check if they were written by the same author.
We read The Fire Station by Robert Munsch at naptime and again before going to bed for the night, in tribute to the firefighter who visited the daycare last week.
As a bribe, or maybe an incentive, to get Reid to stop for a potty break before going to the Aviation Museum, I read Winnie-the-Pooh and Eeyore’s House by A.A. Milne.
At bedtime, we read:
- If You Take a Mouse to School by Laura Numeroff;
- The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton; and
- Read Me a Book by Barbara Reid, I read it first to Reid and then she said, “My turn. I read at you,” and then she told me what was happening in the pictures. We received this book as part of the package from the Public Health nurse, just after Reid was born. If it is the only book a child has, the rhyme and illustrations offer much to talk about and, with luck, will inspire a trip to the library.
