Thank you so much for your kind words about my picture book, The Best Gifts. It was published way back in 1998 and is still going strong. I believe it can be purchased through La Leche League and also through online bookstores like Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Abebooks.com

I tried to leave a comment earlier, but it said I couldn't add! And now I don't remember what I said...
But have you read "Near Mama's Heart?" It's not exactly a "story" book, but it has beautiful pictures of nursing mamas and babies and some sweet rhyming text about how good nursing makes babies feel.
Oh yeah, I remember what I said...I am all for your idea of making nursing normal again at least in your own home, and I think we're on the right track: my son loves to nurse his stuffed animals, as well as ask me to. So we often sit on the couch together and pretend to nurse a variety of creatures. It's great! I hope he's not too disappointed when he grows up to realize he can't actually nurse a baby. ;)

This sounds like a great book! I wish I had it before my little one was born. There were some awkward moments with my school age nieces because they thought that babies got their milk from a bottle. It would have been a great teaching tool for them.

I haven't read The Best Gifts yet, but I'm really glad you reviewed it because I've been meaning to, and this might be the push I need to run down to the bookstore and buy myself a copy. Thanks! :)

The Best Gifts sounds like a really lovely book. I hadn't come across it before now...
You're so right when you say a baby bottle has been a symbol of infancy for too long... wouldn't it be lovely to see this change by the time our children have grown up?
