Books we read, February 2nd

We didn’t have any groundhog day books but I notice that Chapters has one for sale. I’ll have to check the clearance table and see if there are any there. Instead, we read a bunch of books from our “Reading Together at Home” collection from Discovery Toys:

  • This is the Bear by Sarah Hayes about a little bear who ends up at the dump, only to be rescued by his boy and the dog (who “helped” him get into the garbage can in the first place);
  • Itsy Bitsy Spider and Other Action Rhymes illustrated by Patrice Aggs;
  • Walking Through the Jungle by Julie Lacome;
  • The Train Ride by June Crebbin, a book that shows a little girl and her mom on a train heading to meet the grandma at the shore. Reid and I would like to do that, I think;
  • The Grumpalump by Sarah Hayes, twice, and I don’t blame Reid because it an interesting book in terms of both the rhyme and the image and it takes a couple times to take it all in; and
  • Night-Night, Knight and Other Poems, chosen by Michael Rosen;

and also:

  • Bunny Magic! Tales from the Carrot Patch by Neil Connelly; and
  • The Mitten, by Jan Brett, which has beautiful illustrations that tell the story and additional images that show what will happen next.

At bedtime, we read from Munschworks Treasury 1: The first Munsch treasury by Robert Munsch:
